City Royals this season.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Jacques Villeneuve is ready to make an IndyCar comeback. Schmidt Peterson Motorsports said Wednesday it has hired Villeneuve to race in this years Indianapolis 500, 19 years after the Canadian driver first drank the milk in Victory Lane. "IndyCar is growing again and thats why last year when I started watching races again, every time I watched I felt almost angry I wasnt there," the 1995 race winner said on a satellite hookup from France during a news conference held at the teams Indy headquarters. At age 42, Villeneuve seemed content being a television analyst, musician and RallyCross driver. But when Schmidt and co-owner Rick Peterson, also from Canada, made a serious offer, he couldnt refuse. The 500 is scheduled for May 25. Villeneuve certainly has a compelling resume. As an Indy rookie in 1994, he qualified fourth and finished second to Al Unser Jr., and was named the races rookie of the year. The next season, the reigning CART rookie of the year was even better. He qualified fifth at Indy, forced Scott Goodyear into a costly mistake on the final restart and eventually held off Christian Fittipaldi to become the first and only Canadian winner of the race. Villeneuve completed all 400 laps at Indy in those two starts and won the 1995 CART title, too. But after starting 33 races, winning six poles and five races in two IndyCar seasons, Villeneuve had a chance to become an international star. So he headed to Europe and joined Formula One -- the series that made his late father, Gilles, a household name. Like his dad, who died in a 1982 F1 qualifying crash, Villeneuve excelled on the world stage. In 163 career starts between 1996 and 2006, the younger Villeneuve reached the podium 23 times, won 11 races, 13 poles and claimed the 1997 world championship. At that point, American open-wheel racing wasnt even on the radar. His journey back to North America began in 2007 when Villeneuve made the move to American stock cars. Over the next seven seasons, he dabbled in Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Le Mans series as well as sports cars. Villeneuve regained interest in IndyCars last season as he watched how close and competitive the races had become. To him, it reminded him of the series he left almost two decades earlier. Suddenly, he was interested in making a return -- if he could find the right car and the right team. "To get this opportunity is a gift," Villeneuve said. "A lot of people say when you have kids, you slow down. I want my kids to see me race." Schmidt is the winningest team owner in Indy Lights history and already employs two full-time drivers in the better-known IndyCar series -- Russias Mikhail Aleshin and Frances Simon Pageland. In previous years, Schmidt has always found a way to compete at Indy. Getting Villeneuve might be the biggest coup of all for his low-budget team. "Indy is a special place. We go there not to exist but to win the race," Schmidt said. "To see a guy that finished second and finished first there, I dont think hes going to have any problem going back." Villeneuve becomes the fifth 500 winner on this years entry list. The others are three-time winner Helio Castroneves of Brazil, two-time winner Scott Dixon of New Zealand, 2000 winner Juan Pablo Montoya of Colombia and Brazils Tony Kanaan, the defending champ. Another trip to Victory Lane would give Villeneuve two more milestones. He would break Al Unsers record for the longest gap between first and last victories. Unser went 17 years between his first Indy crown in 1970 and his record-tying fourth win in 1987. Villeneuve also would break Gordon Johncocks record for the longest gap between first and second wins at Indy, 1973 and 1982. Villeneuve isnt motivated by records. He wants to win. "Im a racer," he said, explaining he does not plan to retire anytime soon. "Ive got to find ways to get better and better and better, and Im going there with a team thats very experienced and has been very successful as well." John Jerry Jersey. vThe Boston Bruins will start the 2013-14 NHL season without some key names from their Stanley Cup run. Walter Payton Jersey . Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli told impending free agents Jaromir Jagr, Andrew Ference and Jay Pandolfo during Wednesdays exit meetings that they will not be re-signed by the team. "I dont think I will," Jagr told reporters on Wednesday. "Maybe if I would score 20 goals in the playoffs, it would be a different story. I was 20 short." With the salary cap going down next season, Chiarelli is hoping to use the saved money to re-sign forward Nathan Horton and goaltender Tuukka Rask. He added that the team did not intend to use any compliance buyouts. "Well find the right mix," Chiarelli told reporters. "But we do have some hard decisions to make, including deciding on re-signing players and deciding on retaining players." Dan Hampton Jersey .J. - The New York Jets have signed former Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Graham Harrell, giving them some added depth at the position. Brian Urlacher Jersey . They know how difficult it is to beat the San Antonio Spurs. George scored 28 points and Indiana defeated San Antonio 111-100 on Saturday night, snapping an 11-game skid against the Spurs. http://www.bearsauthenticproshop.com/Youth-Dick-Butkus-Bears-Jersey/ . The two-time Olympic halfpipe gold medallist informed ESPN on Monday he plans to compete in Apsen, Colo.OTTAWA -- Suddenly the Philadelphia Flyers look like a contender. The Flyers won their second straight game with a 5-0 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. This is a sharp contrast to Philadelphias start to the season, when it scored more than two goals in a game only once, winning just four times in its first 15 games. Jakub Voracek scored twice and Steve Mason made 24 saves as the Flyers won consecutive games for just the second time this season. "We got back to the basics," said Matt Read, who had the Flyers first goal Tuesday. "The first month we tried to do things when we didnt have them and now were just keeping things simple by getting pucks deep and getting pucks out when we have to and winning puck battles along the boards. "Those little things turn into victories." Vincent Lecavalier and Brayden Schenn also scored for the Flyers (6-10-1), while Claude Giroux added two assists. It was Masons first shutout of the season and the 20th of his career. "This was an extremely sound effort all around and from a defensive standpoint we didnt give a lot up," Mason said. Craig Anderson stopped 26 of 31 shots in his first start in over a week after suffering a neck injury in a loss to Dallas on Nov. 9. The Senators (7-7-4) were shutout for the first time this season and had a three-game winning streak snapped in the loss. Robin Lehner started and won all three games in Andersons absence and was named the NHLs first star of the week last week. When Senators coach Paul MacLean was questioned as to whether he was disappointed with his teams effort, he responded by saying he thinks the whole city is disappointed. "We had been playing well and we got exposed by a team that was a little more desperate than we were," said MacLean, who faced some criticism for starting Anderson rather than the hot hand in Lehner. "There are only 20 guys from Philadelphia that are happy with their game. I dont think theres anyone on our team that should be happy with their game and Craig is no different than the rest of us. There were 20 guys that went out there and 20 guys that didnt get the job done.&quuot; The Flyers led 3-0 after the second intermission and got goals from Lecavalier and Schenn to put the finishing touches on an embarrassing night for Ottawa. Eddie Jackson Jersey. There was very little flow through most of the first period, further evidence that both clubs are enduring early-season struggles. "I dont think we had much jump and it started early. We werent handling pucks and we kept it along the walls a lot which kind of slows things down and makes it tough to create momentum," said Senators forward Zack Smith. "There were a couple of giveaways in the defensive end that cost us, but you lose 5-0 and you cant say the effort was there." The Flyers opened the scoring late in the first period when Read collected a puck behind the Senators net and scored on a wraparound. His attempt actually hit the far goalpost but then found the back of Andersons leg and was redirected across the goal-line. That 1-0 lead was quickly doubled in the second period as Voracek scored his first of the game 28 seconds into the period. Voracek was behind the goal when he took a pass from Scott Hartnell and quickly reached around, beating Anderson to the post for his second goal of the season. A touch more than 10 minutes later, Voracek gave the Flyers a 3-0 lead as he collected a rebound and put a shot over an outstretched Anderson with 30 seconds still remaining in an interference penalty to Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki. The Flyers nearly took a 4-0 lead on some nifty passing between Voracek, Hartnell and Giroux, but Anderson made a diving save with the handle of his stick as time expired in the period. Notes - Senators forward Erik Condra missed his fifth straight game Tuesday night with a muscle strain in his right leg. Forward Steve Downie played his second game of the season with the Flyers and first after missing four straight with a concussion. Claude Giroux collected his 300th NHL point, all with the Flyers, with his first of two second-period assists Tuesday. Chris Phillips and Eric Gryba were scratches for the Senators while Michael Raffl, Andrej Meszaros and Hal Gill sat for the Flyers Stitched Jerseys Cheap Jerseys Online Cheap NFL Jerseys Wholesale Cheap Authentic Jerseys NFL Jerseys Cheap Wholesale Jerseys From China Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
